Hoge Vrijheid

On the waterfront of the Petroleumhaven, between Hollands Spoor and Moerwijk stations, stands a residential tower you won't easily forget: Hoge Vrijheid. The seventy-metre tower by Open Development looks like a stack of houses, and in a way that's exactly what it is. Every home has its own colour and its own character on the outside.

That's down to its unique concept. Hoge Vrijheid grew out of the City of The Hague's Bouwen op Elkaar ("building on top of each other") competition. Buyers could choose their own location in the building, façade, floor area, number of storeys and floor plan. The result is a mix of quayside homes on the water, apartments in all sizes and penthouses in the crown, with a shared roof terrace overlooking the skyline.
