Where the Oude Delft and Lange Geer canals meet stands one of the most impressive buildings in the city: the Arsenaal. Its oldest part went up around 1602 as an armoury for the States of Holland and West Friesland, and by the end of the seventeenth century it had more than doubled in size. Many people in Delft know it best as the Army Museum, which was housed here until 2013.
After the museum moved out, the protected monument was given a new purpose. Developer Cepezed gave the building a second life and asked us to connect it to fiber. Not an everyday job in a four-hundred-year-old monument, but our network has been in place since 2021.
Today the Arsenaal is buzzing again. Hotel Arsenaal by WestCord welcomes guests, Loetje occupies the bright atrium that was once an open courtyard, and watchmaker Holthinrichs Watches finishes its watches by hand behind large windows. A building that stored weapons for centuries now runs on fiber.
